Greed: Episode 3

The boy relaxes for a moment. His breathing is heavy from the difficulty of defeating the crazed humanoids. But there will be no rest for him. There is a rumble from above. Dust falls from the ceiling. Looking up, the ceiling is dark but the boy can see large cracks leading to more chambers above. There is a second rumble and more dust falls. The boy looks down, wiping dust from his eyes.

Suddenly, a huge scorpion falls from the ceiling. The floor shakes, knocking the boy to the ground. Cracks splinter away from the scorpion and along the cracks, gold spreads like fire across the floor.

The scorpion is black with gold glowing from the joints of its hard, shiny exoskeleton. It begins to scoop up the gold from the floor and eat it using its huge, sharp claws. The boy stands and readies himself for battle again. He generates an energy morning star. The scorpion has no eyes but seems to sense the boy's movement. The end of its tail begins to glow and shifts like a ball of golden lava. It morphs into the face of one of the humanoids. Gold drips from the holes where the eyes, nose, and mouth should be. The face opens its mouth and screams, spitting out gold as the scorpion charges.

Both of its huge claws snap at the place where the boy was. The boy is now a few feet away from the scorpion, standing in front of one of the pillars. He raises his morning star to swing it at one of the scorpion's legs but lightning fast, the scorpion stabs its tail at the boy. The boy barely jumps out of the way before the tail slams into the pillar behind him. The end of the tail explodes in a flash of gold, destroying the pillar and causing it to topple to the ground. The boy must roll out of the way to avoid being crushed by falling pieces of rock. "That was a close one!" he says to himself.

The scorpion turns to strike again. The boy is just jumping up and suddenly he is gone again. The scorpion smashes its tail into the ground where the boy was, exploding the floor with gold and causing the cracks to grow worse.

The boy has run to the scorpion's side and raises his morning star to strike the scorpion as the floor cracks beneath him. Suddenly they are both falling through the air. The boy's mace strike hits one of the scorpion's legs as they fall down, down, down, the leg splinters and gold flows out. The humanoid face on the end of the tail screams. The darkness surrounds them...
