GREED: Episode 4
Falling through the air seems like forever but then the boy hits a hard surface. He is dazed for a moment and lays there, very still. After a moment, he is able to raise himself up and look around. He is on a bridge in the middle of a huge cavern. There is only dark on every side except for a magical glow coming from the bridge.
There seems to be doors at either end of the bridge but they are so far away. He raises himself, the energy mace still in his hand. There is no sign of the scorpion. "He must have fallen down." The boy says, looking over the edge of the bridge into the darkness.
Just behind the boy, the bridge explodes in gold and the rock crumbles below his feet. He cries out as he is pushed over the edge into the darkness. At the last second, he swings his mace and it digs into the side of the bridge. The boy is able to swing himself back up onto the bridge and face the scorpion. He looks everywhere. But the only sign of the scorpion is the gold.
Then he hears a noise coming from under the bridge. The boy begins to run. He hears the scorpion running underneath the bridge after him. Then the sound seems to pass him. He stops, trying to turn the other way and the scorpion jumps up onto the top of the bridge. It is running towards him at full speed.
There is nowhere for the boy to dodge to. He must face the scorpion head on. He swings his mace and catches the scorpion's claw, sending the huge creature off balance. But the tail is still deadly accurate, it comes towards the boy even as the scorpion struggles to not fall off the bridge. The boy must jump back and even then barely gets away from the splatter. He is blown back and flips through the air onto the bridge behind him.
The scorpion regains its footing and charges at him again. The boy quickly generates an energy staff and comes up with a plan in his mind. He sees the tail readying itself to plunge through him, the claws of the scorpion are coming towards him. He hops up and crouches as the scorpion comes towards him. At the last moment, he catches both the scorpion's claws across his staff and pushes the scorpion up, sliding underneath. The tail, uncaring of where the scorpion goes and only focused on its target, smashes into the head of the scorpion. It explodes in gold, covering the boy in gold and pieces of shattered scorpion exoskeleton. He pushes against one side of the staff, digging the other side into the ground to flip the dead monster into the void, landing on his feet in the center of the bridge as his enemy falls into the darkness.
Behind him, he hears footsteps The father, mother and girl are running towards him on the bridge. "You have done well defeating the scorpion," the father says as he and the mother embrace the boy.
The mother looks over to the girl, "The next chamber is yours."
